Co-Incidences in Cricket History #1 There is a reason why Sachin Tendulkar is called the king of records. Whatever he does intentionally or unintentionally becomes an eye-popping record. He is already the leading run scorer in tests and one-day matches, the most number of centuries and half centuries, the most number of matches and the list goes on and on.

The father of all records is also the father of coincidence. His first Century against South Africa came in 1992, the score was 111. His last test century came against South Africa, again the score was 111*. Sachin made his last ODI century against South Africa in World Cup 2011 and the score was 111.

Co-Incidence #2 There is one major shocking co-incidence that really defines the stature and longevity of Sachin Tendulkar in global cricket. Sachin Tendulkar was dismissed by pacer Doug Bracewell in the first innings of the second test match against New Zealand in 2012.

The coincidence is that 22 years back, Sachin Tendulkar was dismissed by Doug Bracewell uncle and spinner John Bracewell in the second innings of the first test match against New Zealand in Christ Church in 1990. Sachin hit 3 hours on both occasions. He is the only player on Earth to have been dismissed by two generations of the same family. What a feat!

Co-Incidence #3 Sachin Tendulkar is the first man on the planet to have scored a double century in one day cricket. He made the double ton against South Africa in 2010, a year later Virender Sehwag broke his record with 219 runs against West Indies on the same ground and 2 years later, Rohit Sharma smashed all the records with 264 runs against Sri Lanka.

The coincidence was that in all the three matches India batted first and won by a margin of 153 runs.

Co-Incidence #4 Mahendra Singh Dhoni hit his first one day and test century against Pakistan and both came in the 5th match of both the formats respectively. In both the formats he scored 148.

Co-Incidence #83 is a lucky number for Indian cricket. 1983 was the year when India first kissed the Prudential World Cup and the captain was Kapil Dev. Interestingly, post-millennium, all these players became captain after scoring 183 runs in one day cricket and that remained their highest score.

Sourav Ganguly scored 183 against Sri Lanka in World Cup 1999, Mahendra Singh Dhoni hit 183* against Sri Lanka in a home series in 2005 and Virat Kohli scored 183* against Pakistan at Asia Cup in 2012.

Co-Incidence #6 English cricket legend Alec Stewart was born on 8.4.63, this the exact number of runs he scored in test cricket. He scored a total of 8463 runs.

Co-Incidence #9 Sachin Tendulkar scored his double ton against South Africa on February 24, 2010. 5 years later Chris Gayle hit his maiden double century (215 runs) on the same date in 2015 World Cup.

Co-Incidence #10 Richard Stokes is the only spectators, who witnessed both the 10 wicket hauls of test cricket in his life span. He was 9 years old when his father took him to watch the Ashes match played between Australia and England. Jim Laker became the first bowler to take 10 wicket haul in test matches.

After 2300 tests and 43 years, Anil Kumble took 10 wicket haul in a test match against Pakistan. Coincidentally, Richard strokes were present at the Feroz Shah Kotla to watch the match. He was in India for some business tour.
