Yuvraj Doesn’t Think Shivam Dube Should Be Compared To Him Just Yet

Yuvraj Singh is not particularly amused that Shivam Dube is already being compared to him when he has just played one T20 international match for India so far.

Dube made his debut for India in the first T20I against Bangladesh. Although he couldn’t score much, people were of the view that his batting style resembled with the batting style of Yuvraj Singh.

Dube is not only a left-hander, but also stands tall and looks to stand and deliver just like Yuvraj. Because of his long levers, he can get to the pitch of the ball quite easily and can hit sixes from his crease.

Also, he is a lower order finisher at the moment, a role which was assigned to Yuvraj as well at the start of his career. Yuvraj, as he progressed in his career thereafter, started batting at no. 4 for India.

Dube has shown the clean striking ability in domestic cricket, but domestic cricket and international cricket are two different kettle of fish. If he would be able to replicate that in international cricket, it remains to be seen.

Yuvraj doesn’t want a judgement to be passed on Dube so soon. The legendary southpaw admits that the Mumbai youngster has got potential, but according to Yuvraj, until he spends some time in international cricket and puts in some performances, he can’t be compared to anyone.

“Let the guy start his career first, and after a while when he reaches a certain level, then you start comparing him with someone. I don’t think he should be compared to me. He should make his own name. He has the talent.” Yuvraj said while addressing the press in an event in Mumbai.

Yuvraj is not shying away from putting forward his opinion on anything related to Indian cricket since his retirement. He has been very upfront and he has criticized the Indian team management and the Indian selectors many times in the recent past.
