Young players continue to dominate proceedings at the Australian Open, few more upsets on cards today

The Australian Open 2023 has been full of surprises till now and it continues to throw more surprises even on the fourth day of the event. Young players have been phenomenal and now have made the top 2 seeds at this Australian Open go home after the second round.

Today, the second-seeded player Casper Ruud was defeated by USA’s Jenson Brooksby in their second-round match at the Rod Laver Arena. Jenson upset Ruud in a 4-set match 6-3, 7-5, 6-7, 6-2.

Now, the top 2 seeds here at the Australian Open 2023 have been sent home by two American players who are not even in the top 50 seeds. Yesterday, Mackenzie McDonald beat Rafael Nadal in straight sets and today Jenson Brooksby defeated Casper Ruud. both of these players are now in the third round of the Grand Slam.

Talking about other results, Diego Schwartzman was defeated by J.J. Wolf in straight sets 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 as he moved to the third round. Spain’s Davidovich Fokina was also defeated by USA’s Tommy Paul 6-2, 2-6, 6-7, 6-3, 6-4. This is also an upset because Fokina is seeded at number 30 whereas Paul is nowhere near the top 50. USA’s players have been phenomenal as they are playing as the underdogs and most of the upsets are done by them.
