Can India qualify for WTC 2021-23 finals?
In their first test series match South Africa had beaten the mighty England Test side by innings and 12 runs in the first test held at Lord’s on Friday. With this emphatic win South Africa Test team has regain it’s top spot on the World Test Championship points table.
The proteas won their sixth win in eight matches to claim at the top with a PCT of 75. Australia test team sits at second place with PCT of 70. Sri Lanka on third with 53.33 following the Indian side on fourth place with 52.08.
With six remaining matches, India’s chance to qualify for the WTC finals are very slim as the South Africa win against England makes them favourite to enter finals.

Even India test team win its all of the remaining six fixtures, India will still manage a PTC of 68.05. Meanwhile, South Africa left a total 7 matches to play including the on going series with England. To finish ahead of India they only need to win 5 matches out of 7 matches with PCT of 73.33.
Meanwhile, Australia test team sits second on the table with 9 matches remaining and after winning all the matches they will reach its PTC to a maximum of 84.21 and if they win 6 matches out of 9 they will still finish ahead of India with PTC of 68.42.
Even the struggling Sri Lanka only has four matches left in their WTC cycle and winning all the matches will make them reach a PCT of 66.66.
Now all the eyes of India’s remaining fixtures against Australia at home will decide the fate of India’s WTC finals dream. Also to mention, Australia will also be playing south Africa in a three-match series in 2022 which will also be decider for India’s final chances.
