Even with top players on the field, their strategic direction and leadership are crucial for achieving consistent success. But who are these coaches, and what unique approaches will they bring to the WPL?

Charlotte Edwards (Mumbai Indians)

In the WPL 2024, Charlotte Edwards leads as the head coach of the Mumbai Indians (MI) Women’s team. She has a remarkable background as a former England cricket captain. She played primarily as a right-handed batter. She is the first player to secure victories in both the Women’s Cricket World Cup and T20 World Cup as captain. She’s bringing all that winning experience to guide MI to another championship title in the exciting WPL 2024. Adding to it “Jhulan Goswami” who is a former Indian cricketer is the bowling coach and mentor of Mumbai Indians.

Jonathan Batty (Delhi Capitals)

The head coach of the Delhi Capitals (DC) Women’s team in the WPL 2024 is Jonathan Batty. He’s not an international player himself but he is an English former first-class cricketer who played for England domestic cricket club. He is a cricket expert renowned for his strategic thinking and deep knowledge of the game. Previously leading DC in the inaugural WPL season, where they finished as runners-up, Batty is now set on guiding DC to their first WPL championship title this year.

Luke Williams (Royal Challengers Bangalore)

In the WPL 2024, Luke Williams has got the role of head coach for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. He is an experienced Australian coach renowned in women’s cricket. He was appointed as the head coach of RCB after the inaugural WPL season in 2023, replacing Ben Sawyer. With a successful track record, he coached several successful teams including Adelaide Strikers in the Women’s Big Bash League. For WPL 2024 he is all set to lead RCB to a competitive performance through his potential and coaching skills.

Jon Lewis (UP Warriorz)

The head coach of the UP Warriorz in WPL 2024 is Jon Lewis. He is a former England cricketer and current head coach of England Women’s Cricket. Lewis is known for his focus on player development, and several young players in the UP Warriorz squad, such as Vrinda Dinesh and Gouher Sultana, showed significant improvement under his guidance. He is all set to make strategic decisions for his team for better performance.

Michael Klinger (Gujarat Giants)

The former Australian batter Michael Klinger is the new head coach of Gujarat Giants replacing Rachael Haynes, who coached the team in the inaugural 2023 season. He held the record for the most runs scored in the Big Bash League when he retired in 2019. As the head coach of the Gujarat Giants, Klinger aimed to improve on the team’s performance as they finished at the bottom in WPL 2023. He is working alongside with former Indian captain Mithali Raj who is serving as mentor and advisor for Gujarat Giants.
