India’s uncapped 20-year-old All-rounder Kanika Ahuja’s journey has been nothing short of a wonderful story where she has worked really hard to become the player she is today. The 20-year-old has embarked on a journey that very less people walk upon and her match winning knock on Wednesday to give RCB Women their first win of the season.

Kanika’s mother Seema Rani was watching her smack the ball for boundaries and big Sixers while battling with Cancer unfortunately of 2 different types. She has both Breast and Bone Cancer but her worries were vanished for a moment when she saw her daughter score 46 runs off 30 balls including Eight 4’s and a Six.

Out of all the shots she played, Seema Rani liked the way Kanika sent the ball to the stands off Devika Vaidya’s delivery. The next morning Kanika’s father Surinder drove her wife to the hospital for Chemotherapy which is almost 60 Kilometers away from their residence.
Surinder said that Seema was literally in tears after Kanika played out that fantastic knock and also laughed a lot. “She was in tears yesterday. Today during our journey, she kept talking about Kanika’s innings and was laughing like a kid.” – Surinder said

Seema Rani also spoke about her health and daughter, suggesting that she just wants to see Kanika live inside the stadium and everything will be fine. “Main theek ho jaungi, mujhe Kanika ko stadium mey khelte dekhna hai.”
For a fact Kanika Ahuja proved her mettle during RCB Women’s sole win against UP Warriorz. When most of the big guns were gone to the dressing room, Kanika Ahuja took the charge and led from the front to taste victory. Later on it did require Richa Ghosh to play her part but 20-year-old Kanika’s contribution was massive.
