Ahead of the England-India clash on Sunday at the BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium, Morgan had told Sky Sports that “something else (is) going on… there has to be”, implying that the discord in the England dressing room was a major factor in the team’s lacklustre performance thus far in the competition.

However, England’s allrounder Liam Livingstone has brushed off Eoin Morgan’s claim that the reigning champions are acting “unsettled” at the World Cup. He denied reports that there was any conflict in the team’s dressing room.

England has stooped down to the last spot on the points table after a 100-run loss against India on Sunday due to which it is easy to believe that there might be disputes among the team.

“Everybody in the dressing room has got immense respect for Morgs (Morgan) but hand on heart I can tell you there is nothing going on in the dressing room. Everybody is working as hard to try and turn this around,” said Livingstone.

Matthew Mott, England’s white-ball coach, also came in defence of the team and turned down the suggestions of the former captain. “Eoin’s entitled to his opinion and he’s obviously been away for a couple of weeks with the birth of his child,” He stated.

“He hasn’t been in and around the rooms. I’ll certainly take that up with him and have a chat with him. We’ve got a really good relationship with him so if he’s seeing something I’m not, I’ll definitely have that conversation.” He added further.

When asked if there was a problem in the England locker room following their defeat by India, Mott replied, “No, not really.” That’s not at all how I think. Regardless of our performance, I believe that everyone in our tent right now would agree that we’re a very close-knit group.”

With their 5th defeat in the 6th match, reigning champions England have to face an early exit from world cup 2023. Moreover, they are placed at the bottom spot of the league table with a net run-rate of -1.652.
