Why the National Sports Bill Won’t Save Indian Football: India’s Ongoing Football Fiasco

Yes happy as an ardent Indian Sports Fan, National Sports Bill have been successfully passed in both houses and one of the most important aspect of that Bill is making stakeholders accountable, and they need to take decision, in favor of athletes going forward.

The biggest question which arises which have been raised by several Football experts/Pundits have raised this concern that whether this Bill would change the fate of Indian Football?

Frankly as someone covering Indian Football to wider extent all I can say this Bill is of no use until and unless, these problems are not highlighted and solutions is not taken care properly, it would change the fate of Indian Football.

Let’s talk about the problems related to it in the below format:

1. The players not being playing attacking instinct of Football, instead playing Football in defensive approach.

2. The tactical leadership needs to be changed who can imbibe winning mindset inside Blue Tigers squad.

3. With no Promotion and Relegation concept in place for Indian team when it comes to analyzing the performance of players if they know they are not performing well they would not be replaced considering there will be no performance analysis that would be taken into consideration.

4. The grassroot talent have been completely exposed big time where the best in the business are not making at the Top most ranks as there is no proper talent identification system in place.

5. Overall the growth trajectory in football have been in downward curve and something needs to done to build system otherwise Indian Football is not heading anywhere.

Solutions:

When it comes to solving problems in Indian Football, they certainly need to build system in place so the best players could be tapped from Grassroot level to highest level.

The concept of Promotions and relegations should be stand in place in order to make sure that best player could possibly accelerate the ladder.

One more thing there should be change in constitution where they must allow Overseas Players and Person of Indian Origin should make it to the squad so that all those Indian origin players who play in Outside league should get a chance to represent the country to elevate the status of Indian Football.

The corruption and administrational problem should be highlighted and resolved otherwise musical chair game would not take Indian Football anywhere as they are the policy maker for Indian Football.

Let’s see whether these bills would make any difference in Indian Football or it would simply will have no impact on Football as sport in the country.
