What exactly happened to Vinicius Jr. and why did he say Racism is Normal in Spain? Find out!

European or Spanish football was jolted last Sunday when Real Madrid traveled to the Mestalla stadium for a league clash against Valencia. The 14-time European champions did not have the best of starts to the game and suffered their 2nd consecutive loss in all competitions.

Last Thursday at the Etihad Stadium, the Los Blancos’ hopes of reaching closer to their 15th UCL trophy were dashed by a 4-0 loss to Manchester City. And last Sunday they succumbed to a 1-0 loss with Diego Lopez scoring in the 33rd minute but what followed in the 2nd-half was quite controversial.

As Vinicius Jr described in his own words, “Racism is normal in Spain”, Valencia fans depicted why. Towards the 70th minute of the game while Real Madrid were searching for an equalizer, the game was stopped for well more than 8 minutes as Vini Jr was thrown Racist slurs by Valencia ultras.

The fans continuously chanted Monkey to the Pacey Brazilian winger and he wanted the referee’s attention on this matter. Vincius Jr went on to confront with Valencia fans and he kept pointing towards the fan who made a Racial verbal abuse thorough gestures as well.

All the players accumulated towards the Valencia goal post before Carlo Ancelotti had a word with Vinicius Jr asking to leave the match immediately.

“I don’t want to talk about football today, there is no meaning in talking about football today. I told the referee he should have stopped the match. It’s the entire stadium that is insulting a player with racist chants and the match has to stop. I would say the same if we were winning 3-0; there is no other way.” – Carlo Ancelotti said after the match.

But it was not done there. This time the players got into a massive brawl with Valencia’s goalkeeper trying to attack Vinicuis Jr for some reason. As the other players tried to break off the fight, a defender from the hosts applied a WWE submission move around Vini Jr’s neck.
