West Ham sack Manuel Pelligrini

After the famous journalist Paul Merson voiced his dissent against the Hammers’ manager, Manuel Pellegrini and the other results not going in West Ham United’s way, West Ham United have sacked their manager Manuel Pellegrini. The news might have come as a shock for West Ham United fans who are fighting the relegation battle.

West Ham United, who are currently just a point above from the drop zone lost 2-1 against the second-placed Leicester City on Saturday. Just after the hours of defeat, West Ham United sacked the Chilean international from the managerial position.

Talking to the press, West Ham United’s joint-chairman David Sullivan said;

“It is with great disappointment that we’ve had to make this decision.

“Manuel is a gentleman and it has been a real pleasure to work with someone of his calibre.

“However, it has become clear that a change is required to get the Club back on track in line with our ambitions this season.

“We felt it was necessary to act now in order to give the new manager as much time as possible to try and achieve that goal.”

After the defeat against the Brendan Rodgers side, Leicester City, Manuel Pellegrini was asked that will he be given the time to change the fortunes of the East London based outfit. Responding to the question, former Manchester City manager said;

“It is a question I cannot answer. We need to win our home games.

“Away we are not doing bad, but our home games having just one point from 18 makes it so difficult.

“I must continue to work and find a way and to recover the trust. I cannot answer that question [whether he will be in charge vs Bournemouth].

“Without any doubt [West Ham are lacking confidence]. These are not performances the fans expect.

“The only way to do it is to convince them on one clear idea, not make too many changes.”

The loss against the second-place Foxes was Hammers’ 9th loss in their previous 12 games. Manuel Pellegrini was appointed 18 months back where the club finished in the 10th position in his first season as in charge. His sack is accredited to the slump of the team’s performances in the Premier League. Please mention your choice as Hammers’ manager who can salvage their season in the comment section below.
