The opening ceremony of the tournament was also a glamorous affair. Famous Bollywood actresses like Kiara Advani and Kriti Sanon made their presence felt alongside Punjabi music sensation AP Dhillon. It goes without saying that Cricket and Bollywood has always had a special connection.

One such connection is between Actress Saiyami Kher and her love for the game of cricket. In a recent interview, Kher admitted that Cricket was her first love and she has been playing the sport since her school days. Saiyami also said that she wished to become a professional player before turning into an actress.

The 31-year-old is currently shooting for her new film “Ghoomer” – based up on a real life incident. In that movie, Saiyami is playing the role of a disabled cricketer and that’s when she initially opened up about her craze for Cricket. In a recent twitter post, Saiyami uploaded a video of her playing cricket and wrote quite an emotional caption to it.

Saiyami was all padded up and was seen playing some exquisite cricketing shots and her post has been appreciated by her fans. “I played every game possible in school, except the gentleman’s game. From gathering 11 girls to make a team, to today watching the WPL feels like a personal win. Maybe, I could fulfil my childhood dream & try for the selections next year if I’m not shooting.”

Meanwhile, in Women’s Premier League action today, 5th placed Gujarat Giants will take on 4th placed Royal Challengers Bangalore Women for match number 6 at the Brabourne Stadium from 7:30 PM onwards.
