Watch: Cristiano Ronaldo produce fair play moment as he denies penalty given by referee

Star Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo is mostly known for his goal scoring antics. The 38-year-old doesn’t  miss out on opportunity that comes to his feet. Perhaps that is the reason why he is closing in on 900 career goals for both club and country.

However, last night during Al-Nassr‘s AFC Champions League 2023/24 Group stage fixture against Iranian outfit Persepolis, Cristiano Ronaldo gave us a moment to remember for a long time. Maybe or maybe not for the first time in his illustrious career, Ronaldo gave up a chance to score.

It occurred during only the 2nd minute of the game at Al-Nassr’s home, the Al-Awwal Park Stadium in Riyadh. The home team were building up an attack from the left side as Sadio Mane crossed the ball inside to find Ronaldo who failed to have a full connection with the ball to score.

The very next moment, a Persepolis defender tried to clear the ball but he fails and seems to be clipping Ronaldo’s boots, who fell down on the ground with the Referee pointing towards the penalty spot. Al-Nassr had the chance to take the lead which might as well could have been the winning goal but CR7 shocked everyone when he brought forward his disapproval to the referee’s decision.

While he could have just found the back of the net easily, Ronaldo decided against doing so. He wagged his finger to the referee asking him to reverse it. The match eventually ended in a goal less draw of 0-0. Regardless of it, Al-Nassr are on top of Group E with 13 points and are well on course to reach the Last 16.

In the Saudi Pro League, Al-Hilal lead the way with 38 points while Al-Nassr are 2nd in the league table, trailing by 4 points.
