Washington Sundar Plays for India and Tamil Nadu Within A Few Hours

Washington Sundar is being seen as one of the most impressive youngsters in the Indian domestic circuit. But, the youngster has shown that he has not just got the talent, his commitment towards the game is top class as well.

Sundar was featuring for the Indian national cricket last night in the third T20I against Bangladesh in Nagpur. That game ended around 10:30 pm and Sundar reached the team hotel around midnight.

And this morning, the all-rounder left everyone shocked when he actually turned up for his state side Tamil Nadu in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, India’s domestic 20-over tournament.

The SMA trophy game began at 9 am today morning. So, Sundar probably took the flight from Nagpur in the night itself to join the Tamil Nadu team which was in Thiruvananthapuram to play against Uttar Pradesh.

Washington Sundar, however, was not able to do much against UP as he could score only 5 runs, batting at no. 6 for Tamil Nadu. With the ball too, the off spinner looked slightly off colour.

He bowled two overs and gave away 16 runs without taking any wicket, but the fact that he turned up for his state side just hours after an international match was really commendable.

Sundar’s performance in the series against Bangladesh was decent with both bat and ball. He got the opportunity to bat in just one game and scored 14 off just 5 deliveries with two sixes.

He also completed his 4-over quota in all three games of the series and although he could get only one wicket in 3 games, his economy rate was just 7 which was very, very good from T20 cricket’s point of view.

The 20-year old is one of the all-rounders the Indian selectors have kept in frame for the WT20 next year.
