Utterly Shocking: No Indian Athletes will participate in World Indoor Athletics
This news will shock all Indian athletic fans, as there will be no participation from the country in the Upcoming World Athletics event.
The event is all set to start in Nanjing China on Friday.
Before you jump the bandwagon whether our athletes have qualified for the marquee event or not to quickly respond to this question- They did 5 athletes have qualified for India in the Upcoming Marquee event as Athletic Federation of India decided to not send their athletes, due to busy calendar.
“Five of them have qualified for World Athletics event which include Asian Indoor Champion Jyothi Yaraijji had qualified but AFI top brasss decided not to send them as they felt it is a busy calendar for them as tournament like Athletics and World Event is all set to take place later this year” Sources close to AFI stated to distinct media outlets.

With no Indian athlete taking part in World Athletics event, World Athletics request AFI to send athletes take part in relay event where they were suppose to send Women’s team in 4*400m competition. But delay in Visa from Chinese embassy couldn’t have materialized in the last moment which eventually prompted India’s no show at the important event” Source added.
Indian athletes who qualified for World Athletics to be shared in the below format:
- Jyothi, Tejas Shirse, Madhvendra Shekhawat(Men’s 60m hurdles)
- Ancy Sojan(women’s long jump)
- Aishwaraya Mishra(women’s 400m)
However they would not to be playing going forward.
AFI should be credited for building infrastructure, where athletes belonging to distinct domain- especially someone like Neeraj Chopra who have inspired next generation of Indian athletes who subsequently back to back medals in Tokyo and Paris Olympics respectively by winning gold and silver medal back to back.
