On the first ball of the last over, a boundary was scored, and only 5 were needed on 5 balls, with one wicket in hand. Next ball, one more boundary was scored, and the scores got leveled. Now, only 1 required on 4 balls, with one wicket in hand. Third ball, South Africa marginally escaped from a runout. However, on the next ball, they couldn’t escape the runout, and they lost the last wicket in the most dramatic way, where the non-striker didn’t even move an inch, and the striker completed the run. The match ended in a tie, and Australia qualified for the final. It is regarded as one of the greatest ODI matches of all time.
1983 World cup final
India reached the 1983 world cup final against all odds. But now the competition was with the West Indies, who were the number one side at that time.
