UEFA Euro 2028 Find out the 10 shortlisted Stadiums proposed by England & Ireland to host the Intercontinental event!

UEFA Euro 2028 : Find out the 10 shortlisted Stadiums proposed by England & Ireland to host the Intercontinental event!

There will be games at Wembley Stadium, Villa Park, Everton, Tottenham Hotspur, Etihad, and St. James’ Park in England, the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Casement Park in Belfast, Hampden Park in Glasgow, and the Principality Stadium in Cardiff for the 2028 edition of the UEFA Euros.

As England and Ireland submit a joint proposal to host the intercontinental event, selection of the stadiums have definitely raised a few eyebrows. Some of the largest stadiums around both of the countries have been left out while some newly built stadiums received the rights to host the matches.

Manchester United’s fortress Old Trafford, which has the second-highest seating capacity of any football stadium in England, had been proposed as a potential location at first, but Manchester United chose to remove themselves from consideration after discussions with the FA.

The board recently announced that they were flattered to have the opportunity to stage the Euros but after Old Trafford failed to comply with UEFA’s standards, they were forced to pull out as possible redevelopments are also on the cards. “During follow-up discussions with the FA, it became clear that we were unable to provide the necessary certainty around the availability of Old Trafford due to potential redevelopment of the stadium.”

The Largest stadium in Ireland, Croke Park which has a capacity of 82,300 is not in the shortlist. Ireland capital Dublin’s Aviva Stadium is in the shortlist while Casement Park at Belfast is in the list but the stadium’s development has remained on the pipes since 2013 but it is the largest stadium in North-Ireland.

With a planned match schedule to cut emissions and adherence to UEFA’s large event human rights criteria to provide an inclusive, discrimination-free, and equitable working environment for coworkers and volunteers, it also prioritises sustainability and good governance practices.

“We are committed to delivering a record-breaking tournament with more tickets than ever before to grow a more diverse and inclusive game.”
