UCL 2022/23 : Liverpool lunged by Real Madrid (5-2)! Reds’ first ever 5-goal loss UCL

UCL 202223 Liverpool lunged by Real Madrid (5-2)! Reds' first ever 5-goal loss UCL

Last night at Liverpool’s den, Real Madrid came from behind by 2-0 to register a 5-2 victory. Reds’ fortress Anfield and its support could not prevent the Los Blancos’ famous habit of turning the tables like a “trace of Bullet”. In front of almost 52,337 people, Madrid breached Merseyside and win the first leg.

Real’s performance was near perfection and it got even better due to Liverpool’s embarrassing Midfield outing. Madrid ripped through and kept sweeping and fetching the ball right after a liverpool mistake. Other than the 1st and 3rd goal, a Liverpool mistake in midfield led to 3 more goals.

After a Vinicius Jr. starer first-half, Karim Benzema finished off a wonderful script at North-west of England. Social media is buzzing with fans trolling Liverpool’s performance as the lose their 7th game in a row (including 2 UCL finals) against the reigning European champions.

And this loss also meant that Jurgen Klopp’s side have conceded 5 goals for the first time in UEFA Champions League. The 6-time winners have reached 3 UCL finals in the last 4 seasons but have capitalized only once. Had Liverpool won em’, they would have become the 2nd highest UCL winner but it was the most successful team in the tournament which denied them twice.

Since 2018, Liverpool and Real Madrid share a fierce rivalry and the former team has been humbled time in time out. The Irony is – Jurgen Klopp said “Book the tickets for next year’s final at Istanbul” after missing out from completing a treble after winning FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

Before the finals at Stade de France, the Reds were also chasing the Premier League title before Man City won it by a point after a comeback against Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa.

That loss might have a role to play in their UCL final loss and since then, their woes have only worsened – 8th in PL, out of Carabao cup & FA Cup (being the defending champs) and are hanging on the edge from UCL exit.

Will it get any better for them?
