UCL 2022/23 : Inter Milan set to lock horns with either Manchester City or Real Madrid in Champions League final at Istanbul!

Serie A outfit Inter Milan have become the first team to book tickets for the UEFA Champions League final at Istanbul later this June. Simone Inzaghi’s side defeated cross town rivals AC Milan 1-0 last night at the San Siro with the Nerazzuri winning the Semi-final by an aggregate of 3-0.

This was for the 4th time this season that Inter Milan defeated AC Milan and the blue half of Milan even led to the exit of AC Milan from 2 major tournaments. Last night at the San Siro, Argentinian world cup winner Lautaro Martinez bagged a goal to make the difference and helped Inter prevail against their most bitter rivals.

This will be for the 1st time since the 2016/17 season that an Italian club has made it all the way to an UCL final. Juventus was the last Italian side to have reach the Final but they lost against Real Madrid in the final. In fact, Inter Milan is the last club from Italy to win the UEFA Champions League in 2010/11 when they defeated Bayern Muncih by 2-0.

In the first leg, Inter had one foot into the Finale with a 2-0 victory thanks to goals from Edin Dzeko and Henrikh Mkhitariyan. AC Milan looked extremely dull in that match but in the 2nd leg, they played really well. Milan created plenty of chances, had more possession but all they lacked was a great end product.

Rafael Leao who signed a 5-year contract extension missed the 1st leg due to injury but he returned on time for the 2nd leg. However, Leao could not convert a single opportunity despite creating so many chances to score. This season they have looked like a shadow of themselves from last season when they clinched the Serie A title after so many years.

Meanwhile Inter Milan will now be watching the 2nd leg between Real Madrid and Manchester City closely as the game is evenly tied and perfectly set up for the showdown at Etihad Stadium later tonight.
