Two players of the Delhi Cricket team have been accused of misbehaving with a female employee at a hotel in Kolkata. Both these players namely Kuldeep Yadav and Lakshya Thareja belong to Delhi Under 23 team.
The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) has sent both the players back home a day before the CK Nayudu Trophy tournament match against Bengal, as they were proved guilty. Both Kuldeep and Lakshy currently have been shown the way out of the team.
Lakshya Thareja is the batsman of the Delhi Under 23 team and has played a List A match for this team in which he had scored a half-century. At the same time, the team’s fast bowler Kuldeep Yadav was to be included in the Delhi team in the next Ranji match against Punjab. He was to replace Ishant Sharma. Although no police complaint has been made on behalf of the alleged woman and the hotel in this case, the DDCA has sent its director Sanjay Bhardwaj to Kolkata to investigate the matter.
Talking to PTI, a DDCA official said that the two players are not part of the match against Bengal starting on Saturday. Both of them have been sent back home due to violation of the code of conduct.
The officer said that it has been brought to their notice that the players had reached the hotel to have a Christmas party and after that two of them followed a female employee of the hotel to her room and kept knocking at her door continuously. After this, the victim female employee informed the reception and complained about the misbehavior by the two players. The players were also identified based on the CCTV footage.
According to the official, the Delhi team apologized to the hotel authorities unconditionally and after that the matter was not reported to the police.
