Top 5 most expensive players with low performances in IPL history!

The Indian premier league is prominent worldwide for its lavishly organized events and filthy cash investment. Every year the BCCI organizes auctions for the league in which players from all around the world are bought by the different franchises with varied prices depending on their overall performances. Although players’ high prices do not guarantee their good performances. Below are the top 5 overall players who did not perform per their prices.

1. Yuvraj Singh 14 Cr. RCB, 2014

Yuvraj Singh, the sixer king has been a hard hitter of the white ball. He has earned his stature as one of the best hitters of the game. He was acquired by the RCB club in 2014 with an exchange of a whopping 14 crores, despite some mediocre performances. He scored about 376 runs throughout the fourteen games he played. Although an IPL season with over 300 runs appears great, his club was unable to advance to the playoffs. Speaking of his bowling, he had a mediocre economy rate of 8.25. Thus Yuvi did not perform well for his franchise in 2014.

2. Dinesh Karthik 12.5 Cr. DD, 2014

Dinesh Karthik, who shinned later in his career was purchased by the Delhi Daredevils for a staggering 12.5 crores in IPL 2014 season. His below-average performance throughout the whole event was 325 runs with a meagre strike rate of 125. His performance did not go as worthy for Delhi Daredevils.

3. Jayydev Unadkat 11.5 Cr RR, 2018

RR acquired Unadkat during the auction season of 2018 IPL for the staggering sum of 8.4 crores. However, Jaydev has been a failure during the whole 2018 season which eventually compelled RR to kick him out of the franchise in the next season. Unadakat also failed to perform well in the next season as well. The underperformance of Javdev Unadkat in the 2018 and 2019 seasons illustrates how sometimes paying a premium price may backfire.

Yet like Jaydev Unadkat, Pawn Negi was also unable to make a major contribution to DD despite having been purchased at a whopping 8.5 Cr price. He also failed in batting and turned out to be an unreasonable exchange of 8.5 Cr.
