- MS Dhoni – Former India captain and one of the greatest of all times, Mahendra Singh Dhoni tops the list of most dismissals by wicket-keeper in the history of ICC T20 world cup. During his time as a player it was very tough to replace him given his ability behind the stumps as well as in the middle of the park. Profoundly known as Captain Cool, Dhoni was the most successful captain that Indian cricket has ever witnessed. He had a different aura and approach towards the game which is why he led the Indian side to win 3 major ICC tournaments – the 2007 T20 World cup, 2011 50 over World cup and the Champions Trophy in 2013. Dhoni’s name will be written in golden letters because of his antics during the inaugural ICC T20 World cup. In 32 World T20 fixtures, Dhoni removed 32 players from behind the wickets which include 21 catches and 11 stumping. His average of removing batters is 0.97 times per match.
- Kamran Akmal –The 5’6 wicket keeper Batsman served the Pakistani national team for a decade from 2002-2017. His batting was a big asset that he brought with him into his national side. His cutting, pulling and ability to target bowlers will be remembered for a long time among Pakistani cricket fans. Although, ever since the introduction of the third format (T20) his form dipped and started making a few mistakes as a Wicket-keeper which would go on to cost Pakistan some very important matches. When it comes to his performance as a Wicket-keeper in ICC T20 World cup matches, Akmal has successfully dismissed 30 players in 30 matches. 12 out of those 30 dismissals were catches and the remaining 18 were stumpings. Akmal was a key figure behind Pakistan’s run towards the 2007 ICC T20 world cup final and also was a part of the 2009 T20 world cup winning squad.
- Denesh Ramdin – The former West Indies Wicket-keeper batsman was mostly a first choice keeper in the team since making his debut in 2005. When he arrived into the international scene, Ramdin had swift and quick movement behind the stumps. However, by the later stages of his career, Ramdin’s batting form as well as performance behind the wickets slumped severley. Though his wicket keeping has been good enough to be featured 3rd in this list. The Right-hand Batsman was a key member of the Caribbean team that lifted the ICC T20 World cup in 2012 and 2016. If we talk about the dismissals he made in T20 world cups, Denesh Ramdin aided for the departure of 27 batsmen in 29 matches. He took 18 catches and rocked the stumps 9 times.
- Kumar Sangakkara – Perhaps one of the greatest in Sri-Lankan and World cricket, Kumar Sangakkara was a very reliable batsman and an even smarter wicket-keeper. He has played with as well as against some of the biggest names in cricket. He also served as the captain of the Sri-Lanka but later relinquished his position to improve on his skill set. Kumar Sangakkara was a great timer of the ball and could naturally play all the textbook cricketing shots. Behind the stumps too, he was very swift and cunning. He represented Sri-Lanka in several ICC tournaments and played a major role in the team’s success. The most notable achievement for him would be winning the ICC T20 world cup in 2014. Coming back to his wicket-keeping, Sangakkara took 12 catches and stumped 14 players out of the pitch, making him the 4th player in this list with 26 dismissals in 31 outings.
- Mushfiqur Rahim – The timid Bangladeshi wicket-keeper Batsman had immense strength in his wrists which used to make him send the balls right into the stands. He made his debut at the age of 16 and never looked back from there. Bowling into his pads was a huge mistake that bowlers often made as he could pick the ball from there and loft it for a six. Despite having immense potential, Rahim couldn’t help Bangladesh secure an ICC trophy but he will be glad to have his name on this list. In 24 T20 World cup matches, Mushfiqur Rahim dismissed 19 batters including 10 catches and 9 stumpings.
