The London team has now made its new home in Charlotte, North Carolina, and has changed its name to the Carolina Royal Ravens. They are following the example of other sports teams in Charlotte, like the NFL’s Carolina Panthers, by adopting the “Carolina” name.

The Royal Ravens got their name from the ravens at the Tower of London, which are seen as protectors of the Crown. Charlotte, where they moved to, is called “The Queen City” because it’s named after a former Queen named Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. Although they kept the UK-inspired name, both EU-based franchises, including the Paris Legion, have now left their home countries.

The Royal Ravens are owned by Infinite Reality, which bought their former parent company ReKTGlobal for a lot of money in July 2022. They had other options to move to cities like Mexico City, Washington D.C., and Chicago. The Royal Ravens are the second team to change their name this offseason, following the Florida Mutineers, who became the Miami Heretics.

As for the Royal Ravens’ players, they let go of all of them in June before the rebranding. We don’t know yet who will play for the team in their first season in Carolina.
