Legendary Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar believes that KL Rahul and KS Bharat would compete for the position of wicketkeeper in the squad for the World Test Championship final match against Australia. Rishabh Pant, India’s regular Test wicketkeeper, has been out since a terrible car accident he suffered in December of last year.
Bharat kept wickets for India in the southpaw’s absence during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in February and March when Rahul was benched due to his subpar performance in the first two Tests of the four-match series.

Ajinkya Rahane’s selection in the India team named for the WTC final was among its highlights.
“For the Indian side, that was the only modification required. Shreyas Iyer needed to be replaced. Ajinkya Rahane was selected for the WTC team despite his solid Ranji Trophy performance, not because of his current IPL performance. He performed admirably for Mumbai throughout the domestic season, he continued.
Sunil Gavaskar named the following players as his starting lineup for the WTC Final: “Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill will be my opening choices, followed by Cheteshwar Pujara at three, Virat Kohli at four, Ajinkya Rahane at five, and KL Rahul at six who will also maintain wickets. Jaidev Unadkat, Mohammed Shami, and Mohd Siraj will come after Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin.
The ICC World Test Championship final will be contested at The Oval in London, England, from June 7 to June 11, 2023.
