Subhranshu Senapati a top order batsman from Odisha picked by Chennai Super Kings will definitely be one of the players to look forward to in the current 2023 IPL season .Currently 26 years of age he made his First Class Ranji Trophy debut in the 2016-17 season where he got into the books with his memorable 137 against Rajasthan. He also made his t20 debut for Odisha in the following year in 2017. With 32 t20 games and 817 runs at an average of around 30 with 33 sixes in total towards his name. He was the leading run scorer for Odisha in the 2018-19 season with 617 runs at an average of 50 with memorable knocks like 173 against Baroda and 157 not out against Jharkhand. He was also the leading run scorer for Odisha in the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy.
He is known for the elegant stroke play that he offers and he has the amazing ability to hit the ball straight and within the V. Very strong in the mid wicket, long on and long off regions. He is a perfect fit for a no.4 and his biggest strength is wanting to hit the ball as straight as possible and very good when it comes to playing spin and attacking the spinners by coming down the wicket . He has one of the most elegant lofted straight drives and is so pleasing to the eye when he plays it. He is also a very good player of the short pitch deliveries and pulls the ball really well. His focus on timing also makes him very good with the flick shots and driving the ball too.
He is a complete player and has shots all around the book but what makes him special is as mentioned before his ability and want to hit the ball as straight as possible and his straight batted technique. The Chennai Super Kings and their skipper MS Dhoni buying him for a base price of 20 Lakhs would definitely consider him as that perfect backup for say an Ambati Rayudu and would be that ideal number 4 who can take on the spinners in the middle overs and also play that innings rebuilder role when quick early wickets go down like how Subramaniam Badrinath use to for CSK in the olden days. He also can definitely be used as that top order or middle order player that CSK needs if they want to play that extra foreigner for their bowling in Teekshana or Magala instead of Moeen or Stokes in case needed.
He can also be used as an impact player and can play the rebuilder or sheet anchor roles if needed.
