Every cricket board is facing the cash crisis in the ongoing situation during the pandemic and it becomes even worse if you don’t have media partners and that exactly what’s happening with Sri Lankan Board.

As they are planning to resume cricket by hosting India and Bangladesh in the month of July provided their respective boards give the approval to tour Sri Lanka.

A statement from SLC CEO Ashley De Silva quoted to ESPN Cricinfo “We have made inquiries to both India and Bangladesh boards and we are waiting for the response from their end. As of now both the series are not postponed yet”.

This tour looks less promising as both the boards i.e Board of Control for Cricket In India (BCCI) and Bangladesh Cricket Board(BCB) have not confirmed their presence as the tour will have subsequent logistical challenges including the quarantine procedure of players in place due to COVID 19.

Arun Dhumal BCCI treasurer stated “Keeping in mind the lockdown restrictions till 31st May 2020 BCCI will consider all the aspects after that they will go ahead and make a choice”.

Also, the statement came from BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhary said the board is in conversation with SLC and they will ask their players for the readiness before saying yes for the tour. He also added that “We are in constant touch with SLC and checking the quarantine protocol over there and several other factors which will come into play before giving clearance for the tour”.

The good thing about Sri Lanka is that they have less then 500 active cases from the last two weeks and lockdowns are slowly and steadily getting removed. India was due to visit in Sri Lanka for three ODI and three T20 followed by Bangladesh which was scheduled to play three Tests as a part of the World Test Championship.
