Sports Ministry will give financial support of 95.9 crores in four years to Eight Khelo India Centres

Sports Ministry has identified sports facilities in 8 states who will be transformed into Khelo India State Centre of Excellence. All the eight facilities will be upgraded with an effort to identify and groom talent so that the players can receive training based  on the Olympics standards. All the eight centres will be upgraded at a cost of Rs 95.19 crores for four years.

The states are Orissa, Mizoram, Telangana, Manipur, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerela where Khelo India Sports Centre of Excellent will be built.

The support will be in the form of infrastructure upgradation, setting up of sports science centre and also a soft component in the form of quality coaches and sports science human resources. The academy will also have high performance sports manager to ensure quality sports science input and performance management” read a release from Sports Ministry.

The Sports Ministry is working hard to develop sports infrastructure that meets international standards in all states and Union Territory with a mission to develop a robust sporting ecosystem in the country. Every Khelo India Sports Center of Excellence will be extended sports-specific support in 14 Olympic Sports.

Khelo India is a good initiative from Sports Ministry as it is giving a great platform for all the players especially the ones who come from economically deprived class to bring laurels for their respective states.
