Southampton FC extend five-years contract with James Ward-Prowse

Southampton FC on Monday confirmed of signing a five-year-long contract with the current skipper and defender James Ward-Prowse. The club confirmed the news on its official Twitter account after the stylish defender signed the contract extension. 

Even James was also elated as he gets to be part of the club for the next five years. He will also get to lead the St. Mary’s side until 2025-26 season. After the deal, James went on to say: 

 “I think everybody knows it’s a club that’s very close to my heart. I started out here as an eight-year-old and just had that goal of wanting to reach the first-team, and my appreciation for the club is so big because the people within it and the infrastructure has allowed me to follow my dream as a young boy who wanted to play professional football.” 

The 25-year-old made his debut in 2011 and since then he has appeared in 278 matches for the side and 24 goals under his belt for the club. 

Saint’s manager Ralph Hasenhuttl congratulated James and also praised the captain by saying,

“Prowse is a player who shows everything that Southampton Football Club is about. He has a passion for the club that everybody knows about, and he is respected by everyone here.” 

“I know he is a role model for our younger players especially, and these are all reasons why he was the right choice to be a long-term captain of this team and this club,” he concluded.
