Solskjaer wants Manchester United to win the trophies

Talking to Manchester United official podcast, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants his club, Manchester United to win the trophies back again as they used to under Sir Alex Ferguson and other legendary managers.

Speaking about his ambitions, the Norweigan manager told that;

“I’m in charge of picking the team and we want Man United to become what they used to be.

“We want to win trophies again. If you don’t pull your weight and sacrifice yourself when it’s supposed to be done, if you don’t give 100 per cent, we have a nice, quiet word.”

Ole wants his treble-winning club back to its glory days under his management but he believes that the trophies and silverware should come up by clubs sticking to the core values and culture.

Talking about the positives of having the relatively younger squad in the Premier League, he also opined that it would take time for him to succeed at Old Trafford. However, he said that he would stick on to the core attacking style of Manchester United.

“It is Man United’s style to be attacking and we need to win the games in the way that Sir Alex’s teams did, and the way the Busby Babes did. We want to win that way.

It is not always going to happen but that is what we have to aim for and to strive for, to win in the right style. We have a responsibility and a duty to everyone who wants to come and watch us.”

The Red Devils have endured the worst start to the Premier League since 1986 collecting just 25 points in 18 fixtures in the English top flight. Even though the back to back wins against Mourinho’s Spurs and Guardiola’s City raised the moods around the club, the draw against Everton and loss against the Hornets have brought back their chunks in their armory.

But when asked about the commitment of the players and backroom staff, Ole responded;

I can’t change my ways and I’m the same with my kids. If they do their best, if they try, fine. If they blatantly make a decision to not do what we’ve agreed or [show a] lack of effort, then they need telling. It’s the same values.”

“I know the boys, they have great attitudes, the group is moving forward and the culture that is seen here now is miles better than towards the end of last season.

Manchester United will face Newcastle United on Boxing Day at Burnley who defeated the Red Devils in their backyard before United make the trip to Burnley.
