Sanjeet Boxer Personal Life

One of the most known names in the Indian national boxing circuit, Sanjeet will be representing India in the 91 kg category at the Commonwealth Games, Birmingham 2022. The boy from Rohtak, Haryana has won several medals and honors in the national circuit and is slowly making his mark in the international circuit.

 

Sanjeet Boxer Professional Life

Born in 1995, the player from Haryana is known for his varied movement. Predominantly a southpaw, the player has taken the opposition by surprise with his movements from the right. The player made his name in the international circuit when he won the Gold Medal in the Asian Championships by winning against the Olympic and Asian games finalists and medallists.

In the past, the player has won several national honors like Senior Men’s National Boxing Championships, Pune (Gold) 2018 and India Open International Boxing Championship, New Delhi: (Gold), Gold at Asian Championships (Dubai, 2021), and Gold at Alexis Vastine International Boxing Tournament. He also made it to the quarterfinals of the AIBA Men’s Boxing World Championship in the past.

Hailing from Haryana’s Dhakal Village, Sumit grew up with his two siblings and was raised by his mother. Sanjeet lost his father at an early age so his mother took all responsibility to raise three boys. Her mother Raj Bala Devi, did tailoring jobs to look after her three boys. With more responsibility, we need more money, as she used to pay 150 per month for Sanjeet’s boxing training but later asked Sumit to quit boxing and start working.

Indian Boxer, Sanjeet recalled the old memory “Rs 150 might not be a big amount now but used to be for my family in 2013. Stitching clothes, it was difficult for her to look after all three of her kids. That’s why my mother said no to my wishes of boxing at first but then agreed to pay for my training at the KM Boxing Centre in my locality,” recalls the boxer.

Although, Boxing sport was still very expensive and required a pair of boxing gloves, shoes, and a proper diet for a boxer. But for teenager Sumit it seem impossible but then his old coach Ved Prakash came to help the young boxer as he believed that Sumit will make his name in Indian boxing so he started sponsoring Sumit the boxing apparel and his monthly fees.

Sanjeet Boxer Commonwealth Games 2022

Indian boxer and national champion Sanjeet is all set for his maiden Commonwealth Games 2022 and will compete in the 75 kg weight category. India’s record in the 75 kg weight category of boxing at the commonwealth games has always won the medal for India since the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

This time the pressure is on Youngster Sanjeet and fans hope to bring some glory to Indian Boxing.

Indian boxer Sanjeet won the gold medal at the 2021 Asian Championship in June after he defeated Olympic silver medallist, Kazakhstan’s Vassiliy Levit.
