SAI approves coaching camp for core Olympic probables, opens Karni Singh Shooting Range

The Sports Authority of India(SAI) has approved the request of resuming training facilities at Karni Singh Shooting range for all the national team shooters with effect from October 5th 2020. Also, 64 additional shooters will be given the ammunition and target on government expense.

As of now NRAI core group shooters, as well as the Development group and Khelo India shooters, will practice at the Karni Singh shooting range in New Delhi.

“SAI also understands the requirement of a dedicated camp for shooters preparing for the Olympics and has principally agreed to the coaching camp for the NRAI core group who have been selected as Olympic probable,” the Sports Authority of India said in an official statement

“However, considering the prevailing extraordinary circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic, the details of the camp are being worked out in consultation with all the stakeholders,” it added.

All the shooters, as well as officials travelling from different parts of the world, will have to quarantine for a period of seven days. However, NRAI will be working hard to ensure that all the health protocols are followed effectively and efficiently so that all players can resume training in safe environment.

National Rifle Association of India is responsible for selecting the players who will represent the country in shooting across several disciplines.It was founded in 1951 with a mission to popularize the shooting sports in the country. The first speaker of Lok Sabha, Sh. G.V. Mavlankar was the founder and the first president of NRAI followed by Sh. Govind Vallabh Pant, Sh. Lal Bahadur Shastri, Sh. Y. B. Chauhan, Sh. G.S. Dhillon, Sh. Joginder Singh, and so on and so forth. Currently, the President of NRAI is Shri Raninder Singh who himself was a keen shooter belonging to Patiala Royal Family.
