Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and Courtney Walsh are all set to don the coaching hats for the upcoming charity game in Australia. The match will be played for raising funds for the people who have lost everything in the raging bushfires in the southern part of the country.

Tendulkar will be training with the team led by former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting while Walsh will be coaching the side led by the iconic leg-spinner Shane Warne. The names of the teams are Ponting XI and Warne XI respectively.

Kevin Roberts, the Chief Executive Officer of Cricket Australia, feels really excited to have legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Courtney Walsh on-board for such an important game. He further stated that both the players have enjoyed a good amount of success in Australian conditions and he cannot wait to see them again in Australia for such a “special” game.

We are absolutely honoured to be welcoming Sachin and Courtney back to Australia, where they both enjoyed a lot of success as players, and we cannot wait to have them involved in what is going to be a special day,” said Kevin Roberts.

Roberts also explained that having these two greats is such an honor for Australia’s governing body and they know what miraculous things they can do for the game that they love so much.

Both have been inducted in the ICC Hall of Fame, Sachin is the greatest run-scorer of all time in international cricket, and we all remember what Courtney could do with the ball, taking more than 500 Test wickets,” added Roberts.

Known as “The Bushfire Relief Cricket Match,” the game is a part of three matches that would be played on the same day that would help in raising funds for the bushfires that have engulfed the country. The other two matches involved are Big Bash League final and a T20 International between the women’s team of Australia and India. All three games will be played on the same day, i.e., February 8. The day has been given a special name, “The Big Appeal,” so that more and more people come to join hands in providing relief to those who are affected.

Apart from Ponting and Warne, players like Adam Gilchrist, Justin Langer, Alex Blackwell, Brett Lee, and Michael Clarke will also be a part of the teams. The list of remaining players will be announced soon.
