Rohit Sharma expresses gratitude for India’s success in 2019

Indian opener Rohit Sharma had a year to remember and it has been the same story for India as well. He has been a crucial player even in the recently concluded ODI series against West Indies where he scored 36, 159 and 63 runs respectively. Rohit was also named player of the series for his exceptional score of 258 runs in three games.

India had to fight back strongly after losing the first ODI and they exactly did what the doctor ordered. The dynamic opener had yet another opportunity to score another double-hundred in the second ODI where he got dismissed for 159 runs in the end. He then went on to play a sparkling knock of 71 from 41 balls with the help of 6 fours and 5 sixes and ended the year on a high.

Rohit also ended the year as joint highest run-scorers in T20Is along with the Indian captain Virat Kohli. The duo are tied at exactly 2,633 runs. After the 2-1 series victory, Rohit posted an emotional tweet for the successful run in 2019 and thanked all the well-wishers for the continuous support.

“What a way to finish the year. I’ll take most of that year what we did as a team and personally too. Thankful to all fans of the game for getting behind the team and supporting. Now time to get ready for the next set of duties,” he tweeted.

The dashing opener also played continuously for India throughout the year. He also captained the side in the absence of Kohli during the Bangladesh series and many more. But he will finally get an opportunity to rest as he has been rested for the forthcoming T20I series against Sri Lanka. However, he is expected to make a return for the ODI series against Australia.

Pointing out the series against Australia, Rohit also said that an exciting year is coming up and wishes to continue his good performance with the bat.

“There’s an exciting year coming up. I understand my batting really well… In fact, even better now… But I want to play within my limits. Knowing the game plan I want to execute is very important,” he concluded.
