The Ranji Trophy 2024-2025 edition have come towards an end, where Vidharbha and Kerala square off against each other for the prestigious title.
However, didn’t let Kerala’s dream to sunk in as they were completely dismantled by Vidharbha, who went on to win Ranji Trophy title.
With this unique feat, Vidharbha won marquee event for record 3 times in their prestigious career.
Looking at the scorecard, it was all down to Vidharbha show, first innings were neck to neck, where the former extended their lead against Kerala by 37 runs.
In 2nd Innings, Vidharbha extended their dominance further, as they scored 375 runs at the loss of 9 wickets where Karun Nair scored 135 runs from 295 balls subsequently supported by Danish Malewar who scored 73 runs from 162 balls and tormented Kerala ballers all over the park.
For Vidharbha, Darshan and Parth clinched 6 wickets together in 1st innings against Kerala.
Kerala in their 1st innings scored 342 runs where Sachin Baby scored 98 runs from 235 balls subsequently supported by Aditya Sarwate who scored 79 runs from 185 balls.
M.D Nidheesh and Eden Apple Tom together clinched 6 wickets among each other to make sure Vidharbha doesn’t extend more lead further.
In 2nd innings, Highlight bowling performance from Kerala came from Aditya Sarwate and Nedumankuzy Bazil who clinched 5 wickets among them.
The most talked about performance in the final would be Karun Nair, who is an absolute prime- where he scored hundred at crucial junctures of the game.
It would be imperative to see whether Nair would be inducted in Test cricket for Men in Blue only time will tell that.
However, Karun Nair back in 2013 was looking for shuffling his domestic team and Kerala was one such options however, board didn’t gave confirmation to him which they might regret.
However good news coming up from Kerala camp, as their Cricket Association, they would be felicitating their team who emerged as runner up of this tournament.
The flight carrying Kerala domestic cricketers, will land at Thiruvananthapuram at 9.30 pm on Monday.
Ranji Trophy is touted as one of the biggest domestic cricket tournament in Indian sporting ecosystem as the prestigious event is kept under “Ranjit Singh Ji” name who played for British India.
Distinct tournaments like- Ranji Trophy, Duleep Trophy, Deodhar Trophy and Polly Umirgar trophy shed platforms, to all domestic cricketers who can wonders at bottom tier and promote it to highest level.
It would be interesting to see, whether winning team of Vidharbha will get an opportunity to play for India in times to come.
