Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson has been fined 12 Lakh rupees for breaching IPL Code of Conduct

The match between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals yesterday was outstanding, especially in light of the fact that it came down to the final ball to determine the victor.

Even though they won the game, the Rajasthan Royals are making headlines for the wrong reasons as their captain Sanju Samson was fined Rs 12 Lakh for violating the IPL code of conduct.

“Rajasthan Royals have been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match 17 against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai on Wednesday,” said IPL in a release.

“As it was the team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, captain Sanju Samson was fined 12 lakh,” the release added.

The fine would not mean end of the road for Sanju Samson, it is just a word of caution for him, also the occasion is pretty big as they have beaten Chennai Super Kings for the first time at Cheapuk stadium since 2008.

The victory they earned against yellow army in their own den was extra special, as they denied swashbuckling Dhoni to hit six on the last ball which eventually tilted the game in favor of Royals.

The credit for this astounding victory goes to Sandep Sharma who executed his skills brilliantly with the ball at crunch moments of the game and that helped Royals to seal the deal against CSK.

“You have to give credit to the boys. The bowlers kept their cool at the end and bowled really well, we also held on to our catches. I don’t have good memories at Chepauk, never won here and wanted to win today. The ball was gripping and hence, we brought Zampa in as the impact player. We had a good powerplay with Rutu getting out and the thought was if we can get out of the powerplay without giving away too much then we have the spinners to do the job,” said winning captain Samson after registering victory against Super Kings.

With this victory, Rajasthan Royals sits comfortably at the top of the points table.
