A man who is respected not only in India but across the world, Rahul Dravid ranks at the top when it comes to promoting the game of cricket. Cricket is known as the gentleman’s game and Rahul Dravid has always played like one. Apart from being a good human being, Rahul Dravid is one of the greatest batsmen ever to play the game. A proper top order batsman, watching Dravid bat was always a treat to the eyes.

In only his first game in international cricket, the Karnataka batsman exhibited his truckload of talent, playing the most exquisite cuts, flicks and drives. You would see all the celebs nowadays being active on Twitter. However, for Dravid, social media isn’t just his cup of tea. Rahul Dravid doesn’t have a Twitter account either and likes to maintain a low-profile off the field.

Why Rahul Dravid is not on Social Media?

Rahul Dravid himself gave the answer in an Instagram chat, saying there’s no reason to be on social media and opts not to use it as he is not fond of the same.

“There’s no particular reason behind why I am not on social media but that I don’t see any reason why I need to be active,” Dravid said during a chat with ESPNCricinfo’s Raunak Kapoor on Instagram.

“I communicate with people on my phone. Recently I’ve felt the need to be active, there are a lot of interesting articles and people you can follow on coaching, management, and fitness which is related to work I do. So I’ve been reading some of that stuff online but I don’t get on with it. I have some random account through which I read stuff from these accounts but that’s just recent. I haven’t done it so I don’t have a good answer,” he added.

1. When Virat Kohli met Rahul Dravid: After winning the second T20 against South Africa in Mohali, the Indian Team was due to play the third and final T20, to be held at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Interestingly, Rahul Dravid, who is heading the National Cricket Academy, surprised everyone when he visited the stadium to interact with youngsters like Rishabh Pant and Ravi Shastri. Virat Kohli, who played under his leadership at RCB also met him and uploaded a picture shaking hands with the Indian legend on Twitter. It made the rounds for a couple of days and received a lot of attention in the cricketing circle.

 

2. ICC Shares a throwback picture of Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, and MS Dhoni: Owing to the widespread disease of the Coronavirus, all the cricket action have been postponed to a later date as cricketers are left doing the household chores and engaging in video chats. To everyone surprise, on 21st May 2020, ICC took to its Twitter handle and posted a throwback picture, featuring Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni and Rahul Dravid.

The picture was from a practice session from 2007 when India travelled to England for a three-match Test series and seven ODIs. The post went viral in no time as fans went nostalgic after seeing the all three in a one frame.

 

3. Rahul Dravid’s message for all the youngsters after Hardik Pandya-KL Rahul Controversy: Hardik Pandya nd KL Rahul found themselves in a big controversy when the duo made comments on Koffee With Karan show which didn’t go down well with the public.

Amidst all that, Rahul Dravid came to the fore and talk about the importance of understanding what’s good and what’s bad, how to act when one becomes a public figure.

“You can get yourself a degree and still not learn anything. You may not have a degree in life, and yet you can learn so much. Education should not be equated with degrees. It should be equated with learning, observation, understanding what’s good and what’s bad. Curiosity doesn’t require a degree.” Rahul Dravid was quoted as saying in TOI.

“We’ve had some sessions for the boys with media professionals on how to handle the media and the challenges that come with it. We have used psychologists to come and talk on and off the field subjects. Roles and responsibilities that come along as you become public figures are important to understand. We’ve also briefly touched upon things like financial planning,” Dravid added.

Rahul Dravid's Personal Life

Rahul Dravid was born on 11th January 1973 in a Marathi Family. His father, Sharad Dravid worked in a company that makes jams, while his mother, Pushpa worked as a professor of architecture at the University Visvesaraya College of Engineering, Bangalore.

Rahul Dravid is married to Vijeta Pendharkar, a surgeon from Nagpur. The duo has two children.
