Rahul Dravid set to return to Rajasthan Royals – Reports

Team India’s ex-head coach Rahul Dravid is all set to make a comeback to the Indian Premier League (IPL). After successfully leading the Indian cricket team to the T20 World Cup victory, he is expected to take on the role of head coach for the Rajasthan Royals.

With his coaching career reaching new heights with the Indian national team, Rahul Dravid is now looking to share his expertise at the IPL level. The decision to return to Rajasthan Royals seems like a natural progression for him.

Why Rajasthan Royals?

There are several reasons why Rahul Dravid is choosing to return to the Royals. Firstly, he has a personal connection with the team, having played and mentored them in the past. Secondly, the IPL schedule is less demanding as compared to India’s international cricket calendar, allowing Dravid to spend more time with his family.

Additionally, with his sons pursuing careers in cricket, Dravid might want to be closer to home to support their development. An IPL role would provide him with the perfect balance between his professional and personal life.

Meanwhile, Rahul Dravid’s appointment could mark the end of the road for the current Rajasthan Royals head coach, Kumar Sangakkara. There has been speculation about Dravid joining the Kolkata Knight Riders but now the new reports put a full stop to these rumours. 

After retiring from international cricket, Dravid transitioned seamlessly into coaching. He took charge of the India A and Under-19 teams, where he nurtured young talent and helped shape the future of Indian cricket. His coaching philosophy, discipline, hard work, and technical excellence, produced impressive results. He won the World Cup with the under-19 team.

Rahul Dravid’s appointment as the head coach of the Indian cricket team was a natural progression. After Ravi Shastri’s tenure as head coach ended with the Indian team, Dravid’s experience and deep understanding of the game made him an ideal candidate for the role. Under his guidance, the Indian team achieved major success, including a T20 World Cup triumph.

Notably, Rahul Dravid’s association with the Rajasthan Royals began as a player, and he later served as a mentor for the team. And now his return as the head coach is a full-circle moment. With his experience and leadership, he is expected to bring stability and success to the franchise.
