Pro Wrestling League Season 5 Returns in December 2025
The Pro Wrestling League (PWL) is making a grand comeback with Season 5 in December 2025, after a six-year gap since its last edition in 2019. Organized by ProSportify and the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), the Pro Wrestling League Season 5 will bring fresh energy to Indian wrestling. With new franchises, a fresh auction, and international talent, the league aims to showcase India’s wrestling talent on a global stage.
The Pro Wrestling League Season 5 is set to kick off in December 2025, marking its return after being paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Olympics, and players’ commitments to other events. According to sources from the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), a meeting with league officials is planned this week to finalize details.
“Yes, we are all set to bring our league back, likely in December 2025. The league will have an all-new franchise with new buyers, and a fresh auction will also be held,” a WFI source said. This revival of the Pro Wrestling League Season 5 aims to give Indian wrestlers a chance to compete against international stars, helping them improve their skills for global tournaments.
History of the Pro Wrestling League
Launched in 2015, this League was created to revive ‘kushti,’ a traditional Indian sport, and bring it to a modern audience. The league, a joint effort by ProSportify and the WFI, has been a game-changer for Indian wrestling. Over four seasons, the league has provided a platform for young Indian wrestlers to face Olympic and World champions. In Season 4, held in 2019, six teams competed: Delhi Sultans, UP Dangal, Haryana Hammers, MP Yodha, Mumbai Maharathi, and NCR Punjab Royals. The Haryana Hammers won the title, defeating the two-time defending champions, Punjab Royals. The league will continue this tradition with new teams and players.
The wrestling league is a big opportunity for Indian wrestlers. The league brings together talent from 15 countries across Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Americas, creating a competitive environment. In 2018, Season 3 of the League reached over 85 crore viewers in India across 36 hours, making it the most popular sports league after cricket. The league aims to build on this success, offering thrilling matches and showcasing India’s wrestling talent.
New Features in Pro Wrestling League Season 5
For Season 5, the Pro Wrestling League is introducing exciting changes. A fresh auction will take place to form new teams, and new franchise buyers will join the league. While the exact team names for the league are yet to be announced, the league is expected to feature six city-based teams, similar to previous seasons. Each team will include a mix of Indian and international wrestlers, with nine players per team (five men and four women). The league follows United World Wrestling rules and Olympic-style freestyle wrestling matches.
The return of the Pro Wrestling League Season 5 in December 2025 is a major update for Indian wrestling. After a six-year break, the league is back with new franchises, a fresh auction, and a focus on showcasing India’s talent. With its history of success and ability to attract millions of viewers, the Pro Wrestling League Season 5 is set to be a thrilling event in the Wrestling calendar of year 2025.
