NBA Academy graduate Princepal Singh who hails from Punjab, India has become the first Indian NBA Academy Graduate to sign up with the NBA G League.

The NBA G League President Shareef Abdur-Rahim announced that Singh will now be training alongside his NBA G League team youth players. He also congratulated the young lad for becoming the first NBA Academy graduate and also the first from India to nail a professional contract.

“We are thrilled to be able to offer Princepal the opportunity to begin his professional basketball journey in the NBA G League,” said Abdur-Rahim.

Singh joined the NBA Academy back in 2017 when he was just 17 years old in Delhi NCR after competing with the other top prospects from the PAN India. He soon excelled into the NBA Global Academy that serves as the best hub for the potential top male and female basketball players outside the USA.

“We’ve long hoped that our development pathway for elite high school players would include roster spots for emerging international talent, including players who have participated in the NBA Academy program, and we’re excited to have Princepal forge this new path and develop his skills in our league.” he added.

NBA G League is basically a league for the aspiring and talented basketball rookies who look to build their careers in the sport. They are guided by the professionals and they also receive scholarship along with life-skills training. From the US, rookies from the top high schools and universities are selected to play in the NBA G League and if they have the calibre they get massive support from their coaches and teams in the Senior and professional league i.e., the NBA League.
