Praveen Chithravel Biography
Praveen Chithravel is an Indian track athlete. He is a triple jumper who is just getting started in his career and will surely deliver big time for India. He is coached by Yoandri Betanzos. He became the latest triple jumper to break the 17m mark at National Inter State Senior Athletics Championships. By achieving this feat, he has also qualified for the World Athletics Championships and Commonwealth Games in 2022.

Praveen Chithravel Early Life
Praveen Chithravel was born on 5th June 2001 in Tamil Nadu. He always loved sports and wanted to represent India on the world stage. He was born to a very poor family in the Thanjavur district, his father is a daily wage farm labourer and his mother is a housewife. He has an elder sister and a younger brother. Praveen would train really hard to sharpen his skills as a result he won the gold medal at the inaugural Khelo India School Games.
Praveen Chithravel Professional Life
Praveen’s career started spectacularly when just at the age of 17 he won the Bronze medal at Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires. He also won the Gold at the inaugural Khelo India Games. He won a silver medal in the Junior National Championships.
Praveen Chithravel moment arrived at the 61st Inter-State Senior Athletics Championships in Chennai when he joined the elite group of Indian athletes to cross the 17m mark in the triple jump discipline. He produced an impressive 17.18m jump which is above the world championships qualification mark of 17.17m.
This was the moment the 21 years old was waiting for. He has shown that he belongs in the top tier of young Indian athletes. He has overcome poverty to reach this level. His father’s meager income was not enough to support the cost of his training. So, he had to work extra hard to get to the place where he is now.
Praveen has excelled in other competitions as well including gold at the Federation Cup, Patiala in 2016. He is currently the national record holder.
Praveen Chithravel Commonwealth Games 2022
It is an amazing achievement for young Praveen to qualify for the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham this year the young athlete is keeping his feet on the ground. Praveen Chitravel hasn’t visited home in the last eight months to ensure that he is training hard for the event.
When asked about what are his plans for the Commonwealth Games, he said the dialog of his favorite actor Kamal Hasan pathukalam da (we’ll see as it comes).
