During a time when the whole world is under the hold of the disastrous effects of the coronavirus, not just in terms of health but the countries are suffering a huge monetary loss. The government is trying it’s best to provide necessary medical facilities and basic amenities to the citizens which are proving to be a challenge owing to the rapid spread of the viral infection and increase in the number of infected cases.
At this time when all the sports activities are at a halt, but the Pakistani cricketers did not choose to sit back and relax, rather, they came forward with their unstinting approach and have decided to contribute their bit by donating a collective amount of 5 million PKR to the government’s emergency fund, to support their country in this critical time.
Not just the cricketers but also the board members of the PCB, up to the rank of senior manager pledged to donate their one day’s salary and all the staff members including the general manager and above would contribute their salaries of two days.
“The Pakistan Cricket Board has always stood with the people of Pakistan in desperate times. This is one of the gravest, most challenging and unprecedented times, which our local and federal governments and health workers are having to face with”
the PCB chairman Ehsan Mani in a press release.
“I am fully aware like a lot of other generous people in our society, our cricketers and staff are privately supporting the local governments and various other charities by making contributions in their own ways. We are grateful to them for their valuable support. The success of nations is measured by how they come together in difficult times, and this is one such moment when we all must stand united”,he added.
The total number of cases of Covid-19 in Pakistan have already crossed 1,100 with a loss of 8 lives.
