Neymar Jr. & Al Hilal at crossroads, as this former club beckons him.

Neymar, Football, Al Hilal, Santo

The world of football has gone into shockwaves, as one of the most popular players of modern-day has come into the radar for his apparent and self- desired transfer in the midst of the upcoming season.

Neymar Jr., the footballer from Brazil has been associated with Al Hilal for one and a half years now, since the summers of 2023, a Saudi Arabia based football club and champions of the Saudi Pro League. He was signed by them for a whopping $97 million USD, after Al Hilal paid the legendary club, PSG for his transfer.

However, as per the latest sources, Neymar has successfully managed to pull of one of the biggest heists as the new year has begun, making an impactful decision to return to his boyhood club, Santos, after his time with Al-Hilal. The footballer had earlier been associated with the Brazilian club from 2009 to 2013, marking this period in his career graph with an impressive 138 goals in over 225 professional games. Neymar Jr. has since then been crowned as a ‘genuine football superstar’.

In a pleasantly unexpected move that displays his deep commitment to his traditional roots, Neymar has decided to willingly accept a pay cut to seamlessly facilitate this transition. His contract situation at Al-Hilal remains the only possible obstacle blocking this potential move. After joining the Saudi club Neymar has faced incessant troubles due to the recurring injuries that limited his on-field appearances to just seven games in the entire duration until now.

Al-Hilal’s manager Jorge Jesus has expressed his displeasure over Neymar’s recent behaviour and also revealed that he will not register the star player for the latter half of the upcoming Saudi Pro League season. The situation surrounding Neymar’s anticipated return to Santos is still not completely clarified, particularly because he has around six months remaining for current contract to be terminated with Al-Hilal.

On the contrary, a return to Santos in late January/early February is likely to go through sooner rather than later. This probable pathway now seems imminent in all likelihood as the verbal talks are reportedly in the advanced stages, with the concluding steps to follow through soon.

If the deal with Santos FC is sealed, Neymar Jr. may be geared up to travel to Brazil in the upcoming days and could play for them as soon as February 5. By axing off his presently valid Al Hilal contract, which ran through this summer, Neymar may be walking away from about $65 million USD, a massive sum left unrecovered.

Will this transfer prove to be fruitful and raise the performance levels for Neymar, is something only time will tell.
