Mickie Laree James-Aldis, popularly known by her ring name Mickie James, is an American professional wrestler, currently working as a commentator for WWE’s Main Event and a wrestler for Smackdown brand.

Mickie James has been recognized as one of the most iconic female wrestlers in the divas’ division. Mickie James used to be remembered taking down the curtains’ of Trish Stratus Era in the WWE after she defeated her at Wrestlemania 22 for WWE Women’s Championship.

Mickie James kicked off her wrestling career in 1999 by joining independent wrestling platforms where she took the training to become a complete wrestler. She devoted her time till 2003 on the independent circuit and later joined Total Non-Stop Action Wrestling. In 2005, James signed a contract with World Wrestling Entertainment and defeated Trish at ‘The Grandest Stage of them all’ Wrestlemania to become the champion. She also bagged Divas Championship title in 2009 to become the second of five Divas to hold both the Women’s and Divas titles.

James left WWE in 2010 and made a come back on an Independent circuit once again and stayed back for six years till 2016. During that time, she also joined TNA again where she held TNA Knockouts Championship three times and TNA World Cup of Wrestling (2013) with Christopher Daniels, James Storm, Kazarian and Kenny King. She returned to WWE in 2016 and started assisting Alexa Bliss in her matches. At WrestleMania 34, James participated in the first-ever WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal, but was eliminated early.

In WWE’s first-ever all-women’s pay–per–view, WWE witnessed the iconic rivalry between Trish and Mickie once again. James and Fox were unsuccessful against Stratus and Lita in a tag team match. James has been drafted to the SmackDown brand as a part of the 2019 WWE Superstar Shake-up.

Mickie James was born on August 31, 1979, in Richmond, Virginia, United States. She persuaded her graduation from Patrick Henry High School in 1997. Apart from being a professional wrestler, Mickie holds an interest in playing the violin. James was very young when her parents took a divorce. Her father Stuart James is a retired wastewater-treatment worker, a ‘VAIL League Division 3 Championship’ coach and a landscaper, while her mother Sandra worked as a real-estate agent and a teacher. The couple divorced when Mickie was a kid.

Mickie James resides in Richmond, Virginia, United States. She is married to Nick Aldis, who is also a professional wrestler, working with National Wrestling Alliance. They have a son together named Donovan Patrick Aldis. The couple tied the knot on December 31, 2015. In her long wrestling career, James dated several fellow wrestlers including CM Punk, Adam Birch, Jake Damien, and John Cena. Her father’s name is Stuart James while her mother’s name is Sandra Knuckles. She has a sister, a half-sister, a half-brother and three stepbrothers.

PROFESSIONAL LIFE

Mickie James began her professional wrestling career in 1999 with an Independent circuit and joined KYDA Pro Wrestling under the ring name Alexis Laree. She made her debut teaming up with Jake Damian, against Mike Brown and Candie. She became a part of several other wrestling promotions that includes Extreme Championship Wrestling,  Maryland Championship Wrestling (MCW), Ring of Honor (ROH) and many more.

She joined Total Non-Stop Action Wrestling’ (TNA) in  2002 and had her first singles match in a losing effort against Trinity. In 2003, she signed a developmental contract with World Wrestling Entertainment and was assigned to Ohio Valley Wrestling for training. She competed into a tournament for the OVW Television Championship, however, she failed to bag the spot.

James joined WWE’s main roster Raw in 2005 where she started her storyline with Trish Stratus. She pretended herself as the biggest fan of Stratus and even began utilizing Stratus’ signature finishing moves as her own during her matches. James turned her heels on Stratus and challenged her for a Women’s Championship match at WrestleMania 22, which James won.

After dropping the championship to Lita in 2006, James started her feud with her and defeated her at Survivor Series to bag the championship for the second time. She also defeated Beth Pheonix, Melina and Victoria to bag the championship.

Apart from being a popular wrestler, Mickie has an interest in music, and her first country music album, Strangers & Angels, was released on May 18, 2010, on iTunes. She also performed at the 2011 CMA Music Festival and then in 2013.  In 2016, she released her new song entitled “Shooting Blanks”.  In 2017, James was inducted into The Native American Music Awards Hall of Fame. She also received a Nammy for Song of the Year “Shooting Blanks”.  James won “Best Single Recording” for her song “Left Right Left” at the Native American Music Awards in 2018.
