Mayank Agarwal Slams Second Double Hundred Of His Test Career

Mayank Agarwal scored the second double-hundred of his test career on the second day of the ongoing test match between Indian and Bangladesh in Indore.

Starting his innings today with the overnight score of 37, Agarwal was onto the job straightaway.

The ball was doing a little bit in the first hour of the day and India lost a couple of their key batsmen in Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli, but Agarwal remained unfazed at the other end.

He was pretty solid in his defence, but whenever Bangladesh offered him a scoring opportunity, he didn’t shy away from grabbing it with both hands.

The 28-year old, who is only playing his 8th test match, was severe on anything off length from the Bangladesh bowlers. Anything dragged down or anything too full, Agarwal was in the right position to take advantage of it.

Drives, cuts and pulls flew off Agarwal’s willow as the right-hander just piled the misery on the bowlers with the day progressing further.

The way Agarwal completed his double-hundred, it reminded the Indian fans of the former Indian opener Virender Sehwag.

The Karnataka right-hander threw the caution to the wind and deposited Mehidy Hasan into the stands to complete his 200 with a six.

Mehidy gave the ball a little bit of air and tried to lure the batsman into a false stroke, but it didn’t pay dividends as Agarwal was down the track in no time and got right to the pitch of the ball.

Agarwal, after completing his double hundred, got even more aggressive and played a lot more shots in the air which ultimately caused his dismissal as he was holed out at deep midwicket off the bowling of Mehidy at the score of 243. He faced 330 balls during his innings and hit 8 sixes.

Ajinkya Rahane also batted beautifully during the day as he had a 190-run partnership with Agarwal for the 5th wicket. The Indian deputy skipper, however, couldn’t reach the three figure mark.
