Mason Greenwood Becomes the Youngest Goalscorer in Manchester United History

Greenwood becomes the youngest goal-scorer in Manchester United history:

The 17-year-old Mason Greenwood became the youngest goal scorer for Manchester United after he scored the goal against Astana in the 73rd minute of the match.

He was one of the three youngsters along with Angel Gomes and Tahith Chong to have given chance to represent the Red Devils at the Old Trafford against Astana for the Europa League.

Here is how history was created

Just a few minutes before the second half, the ball from the corner reached Greenwood, but Antonio deflected the ball. It was a chance missed by a whisker.

But the finally the historical moment came in the 73rd minute of the match when the youngster beat Dorin Rotariu and then completely foxed the goalkeeper Nenad Eric, hitting the goal through his legs.

Greenwood spectacular performance may have stunned the crowd, but it was always on the cards for coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who always backed the youngster and was confident about his success even before the start of the season.

He stated “Mason [Greenwood] is one of the best finishers I’ve seen, and I’ve played with quite few decent ones,” he told reporters the day before the game. “Just work hard. There are so many years ahead of you. The next game is always the most important one.

“[His finishing] seems natural, but it never is. It is repetition, it is being [in the right place] and knowing how to hit a ball. Every situation you are in he does [well]. His technique is brilliant. [Greenwood] is better than me now, that’s for sure!”

His match-winning goal was the only goal throughout the match, as the Red Devils won the match 1-0. Manchester United will next face West Ham in London this Sunday.
