Manchester United sign former PSG striker Edinson Cavani on free transfer

Uruguay striker Edison Cavani has joined Manchester United from Paris Saint-German as a free agent. Cavani who left PSG in June has signed a one year contract. Cavani has scored a total of 341 goals in 556 matches which includes 200 in 301 games for PSG.

The 33-year-old of has scored 50 International goals in 116 games for Uruguay. His first game for Manchester United could be against PSG on 20th October in Champions League group stage match. ManU manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be thrilled to have Cavani in the squad and would be a target man for them to score goals.

Manchester United are having a tough time and are languishing at 16th place with 3 points from 3 games, the last being a 1-6 humiliation at Old Trafford by Spurs team. Cavani is a proven goal scorer in European football and his knowledge would be of great help to United young players. His goal scoring record is equally good for both club and country.

At 33 will he be able to maintain his fitness for Premier League which is very demanding that will be seen. He is a passionate and hardworking player and works tirelessly on and off the ball and will be a driving force behind Rashford, Van Beek and Greenwood. If he is able to replicate his past performances he could be a big asset for United’s struggling team.
