Manan Vohra Early Life

Manan Vohra is an Indian cricketer who was born to Sanjeev Vohra. His Grandfather, Y.P Singh is a former hockey player and currently the general secretary of Chandigarh Hockey Association. Since his childhood, Manan was always more inclined towards sports, but his grandfather being a hockey player, mase it difficult for him to choose between Hockey and Cricket.

Interestingly, it was his grandfather who persuaded him to take up Cricket professionally and not hockey and after that, there was no looking back for the Punjab cricketer.

Manan’s love for cricket started from his school days. He used to practice at his school- Guru Nanak Public School, which was in sector 36, Chandigarh. In his early days, he was coached by Harminder Singh and but as of now he is being trained under the watchful eyes of Yuvraj Singh.

In a very short space of time, Manan made rapid strides as he played for Punjab’s u-16, u-19 and u-22 sides. He was also made the captain of Punjab’s under-19 team. Consistent performances in age-group cricket helped him getting drafted in Punjab’s Ranji squad in 2008. Over the years, Vohra has only improved and has been one of the consistent performers for Punjab in the Ranji trophy.

Things looked more promising when he was drafted in India’s under-19 team which played a quadrangular series against Sri Lanka, West Indies and Australia.

Looking at his domestic career, Manan has played 31 matches in his first-class career so far, accumulating as many as 1176 runs at an average of 34.72, while in List-A cricket, he has appeared in 46 games, scoring 1199 runs at an average of 27.88.

IPL through the years:

Manan’s rise in domestic cricket saw him playing his first IPL in 2013 season. He made his debut for Kings XI Punjab and enjoyed a great run. He played 12 matches and accumulated 161 runs at an average of 20.12, while in 2014, he averaged 40.50, scoring 324 runs in 8 matches. He didn’t get to play a lot of matches in the following two seasons, however, in 2017, he played 11 games and scored 229 runs at an average of 25.44.
