Below is a list of all the players who have won the player of the tournament award in the T20 World Cup over the years. Virat Kohli is the only player to win the award two times, and that too in back-to-back editions.

Shahid Afridi (Pakistan)

Shahid Afridi was named the player of the tournament in the 2007 T20 World Cup for his phenomenal performance in the tournament. He batted with a strike rate of 197 and took 12 wickets in just seven innings.

Tillakaratne Dilshan (Sri Lanka)

Sri Lankan right-handed opening batter Dilshan won the award in the 2009 T20 World Cup. He was the best batter in the whole tournament, making 317 runs in only seven innings.

Kevin Pietersen (England)

England won the 2010 T20 World Cup, and the player of the tournament was English batter Kevin Pietersen for the sensational tournament he had with the bat. He scored 248 runs in six innings at an average of 62.

Shane Watson (Australia)

Watson showed his brilliant all-round display to everyone in the 2012 T20 World Cup and won the player of the tournament award. He scored 249 runs and took 11 wickets in six matches.

Virat Kohli (India)

Virat Kohli, who is a legend of the game now, was a youngster back in 2014 when he won this award. He was the highest run scorer with 319 runs at an excellent average of 106.33 in six matches.

Kohli again won the award in 2016, carrying forward his brilliant form in the sport. He scored 273 runs in five matches and had a huge impact on India reaching the semi-finals of the tournament.

David Warner (Australia)

Along with his team’s victory in the 2021 edition of the T20 World Cup, Warner won the player of the tournament award. He scored 289 runs in seven matches.

Sam Curran (England)

Sam Curran’s 13 wickets in six matches were very crucial to England winning the 2022 T20 World Cup, which made him the player of the match in the final as well as the player of the tournament.
