Lance Klusener, a former all-rounder for South Africa, will arrive in Agartala on Saturday to begin serving as Tripura’s consultant for the next home campaign.
The seasoned coach would work with all the teams throughout the season for a total of 100 days, rather than focusing only on the Ranji Trophy squad, according to Timir Chanda, vice-president of the Tripura Cricket Association.
“We had posted a job posting on our website a few weeks prior, and Dav Whatmore and Lance had both submitted applications. Lance was eager to accept the invitation, even though Dav eventually withdrew due to family obligations,” Chanda said.

The 51-year-old Klusener played for South Africa on the squad that advanced to the ODI World Cup final in 1999 before falling to Australia. Since retiring from international cricket, he has served as a coach for Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, and a number of other teams.
He was one of the franchise coaches in the Tamil Nadu Premier League a few years ago.
“Lance’s expertise will be extremely beneficial to our cricketers. Being able to hire someone of his calibre to serve as Tripura’s consultant is something we should be proud of, Chanda remarked.
Klusener, who represented South Africa in 49 Tests and 171 ODIs between 1996 and 2004, will arrive in Kolkata on Friday and depart for Agartala the following day.
