Griezmann Transfer Could be Blocked: Antoine Griezmann has been the talk of the town, more so, since his transfer to Barcelona in the summer. According to the reports, Atletico Madrid had filed a complaint regarding the transfer of Antoine Griezmann, claiming that Barcelona owes them another €80 million for the transfer as they had opened talks and reached a deal before the Frenchman’s release clause was splashed to €120 million, from the earlier €200 million.

This complaint could possibly block the signing of Antoine Griezmann. However, Atletico Madrid do not intend to stop Griezmann from playing at Camp Nou, but just want to be paid the amount they are owed. They want La Liga’s intervention in the matter and issue a statement that denies Griezmann a chance to play for Barcelona unless the Catalan Club have paid the remaining €80 million.

La Liga president, Javier Tebas confirmed that a complaint has been filed and it could result in blocking of the transfer.

Speaking to Onda Cero he said, “It is possible to block a player’s transfer. La Liga will have to decide what course of action to take. [Atletico] submitted a complaint and put in doubt whether we should pass Griezmann’s licence to Barcelona. There’s a process that has been put in motion and those overseeing it will have to come to resolve the case.”

The 28-year-old made 180 appearances in an Atletico Madrid jersey, scoring 94 goals. He made his debut for Barcelona in their 2-1 loss to Chelsea in a preseason friendly.
