KL Rahul has been in the limelight since long – be it for his stunning all-round show with bat and wicketkeeping gloves or his noble cause. In the recently-concluded ODI series against Australia, he batted at different positions but scored well in all that. He batted at number three in the first game where he scored 46.
However, the captain Virat Kohli was impressed with his wicketkeeping skills and decided to keep him as the wicketkeeper-batsman in the team in the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand as it brings more stability and balance in the team.
“I knew he would send the money right after he won. But what surprised me was that he had sent double the amount that he won,” Shravan was quoted as saying by News Minute. “He transferred a total of Rs. 2 lakh to the Besant Memorial Animal Dispensary (BMAD).”
This acts as a programme for animal welfare at the Theosophical Society and Shravan is the coordinator of the centre. Moreover, he is a former cricketer and represented Tamil Nadu. He had met KL Rahul many times and both attended South Zone camps together in their earlier days.
“Rahul and I have always been in touch and when I put photos of injured animals on Instagram he would tell me that it was difficult to even look at them. He always said that he can’t be hands on and help us at the centre but that we should contact him for any financial assistance,” shared Shravan.
